What is your most rewarding memory of your time in the Visual Studies program?
Having Leah and Nichola as professors; studying abroad in Japan; developing a critical intersectional eye for arts, culture, media and politics; being able to take classes in almost every department in Tyler; realizing that constraints can become a strength!
What are you doing now (life, work, grad school) and how did your time at Tyler help you prepare?
I currently work as a Grants Assistant for the Pew Center for Arts& Heritage. My time as a student-worker at Temple Contemporary and as intern at Asian Arts Initiative helped expose me to the vibrant, civic, arts and culture scene in Philadelphia. These experiences helped me realize that there are multiple avenues in staying engaged in the arts communally outside of a solo studio practice.
What are you most proud of in your life or work today?
I'm proud that I'm surrounded by people who are making art very earnestly, that I can still prioritize having a studio practice and most importantly pay the bills through a job that is meaningful. And all of this while still continuing to just learn, learn, learn!
