Alyssa Herman

My art is a process for me that sparks joy, is meaningful to me, and is a space for self exploration. Part of my self exploration in art is defining feminine, reflecting on nostalgia, and focusing on healing. I am an artist because creating art is something I am passionate about; it is something that has always been exciting to me and I always want to do, even as my life and interests change around me. I enjoy working with oil paint the most, and lately have focused on making surrealist paintings based off of my own digital collages. I became an art therapy major because I want to help people and use my passion for art. Although I do not know what career I will end up doing, I value the teachings of empathy, understanding, and trauma approaches that my art therapy classes have instilled in me.

Alyssa mostly works with painting and fibers, and occasionally combines the two. She loves the freedom of painting and can get lost in the process for hours.
