I grew up in rural North Carolina and found crafts at an early age. I started working with glass when I found my dad's welding torch and immediately began melting down bottles. After high school I attended Penland School of Crafts for three semester long classes over a three year period. In between classes I worked for local artists, quit my job as a fry cook, and set up my own glass studio at home. Working the production side of glass for a couple years left me wanting more out of glass. I decided to try and get my B.F.A. and fell in love with the Tyler facilities while choosing schools. It took me three tries to get accepted into Tyler but I had found the place I wanted to be. After graduating I returned to North Carolina where I set up a studio and display space in my hometown.
