Breath

Robyn Weatherley

Our interactions with the world are affected by and reflected through spatial memories, many of which exist as unseen layers of residue and personal history imprinted upon the spaces we inhabit. My work addresses ideas of human perceptual experience, memory and rationality in relation to these elusive and often invisible leftovers.

The intimate process of breathing begins with the air separate from ourselves. We draw it inside of us and allow it to coalesce with our beings where it temporarily becomes a part of us on a microscopic level. Upon exhaling we re-release it into the world, imparting an invisible imprint or trace of ourselves.

She is drawn to the intricacies within the struggles and fluctuating boundaries between the inside and outside of the body, between body and place, and between the material and energetic world.
