chronic dissatisfaction
(the video)

Emma Salamon

This piece is a contemplation on the restless feeling that something is missing - something that, if fulfilled, would hypothetically make everything complete. The cup in the video though, is never empty or filled. It should overflow, but instead the drop drips endlessly as a metaphor for the unattainable, leaving one unfulfilled.

The drops measure the passing of time, without any resolution. It is moving, yet still.

Chronic dissatisfaction (the video) was initially created as part of a larger exhibit which traced fleeting memories from moments of apprehension and longing.
