Justin J. Keller

June 4, 2020. 2021. Monotype animation. 00:46.

This animation is based upon still images from footage during a protest in the Summer of 2020 after the public slaughter of George Floyd. This piece is one of the many animations I have in process which take on themes of community.

Justin J. Keller (b. 1999 in Montgomery County, PA) uses his practice to discuss time and community as related to black culture within his own personal and general societal perspective. Through the use of illustrative drawing techniques and painting, he places figures from photographed references or his imagination within specific environments to create a conceptual narrative. With the use of color and line work, these environments portray his own perception of the black experience. Keller is currently working as an Illustrator and Fine Artist in Philadelphia, PA, and is a BFA Printmaking major at Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
