 Dr. Joseph R. Kopta (he/they) is Assistant Professor of Instruction, Global Medieval Art, in the Art History Department at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University. His intellectual interests are informed by issues of materiality, phenomenology of vision, pre-modern gender, and networks between Byzantium, Africa, Venice, and caliphal courts.
