With the set of my 3 bottles, my design for the labels were directly influences by turn of the century Italian advertising (i.e., Cappiello style posters) but I wanted the labels also to reflect a flare of the modern to integrate well with Trader Joe’s.

This project was inspired by vintage fruit packaging and engravings. I wanted to see what would happen if I attempted to fully illustrate a wraparound package, sort of like in my first Liquor project. Although this proved to be a very challenging project, the orchard-themed illustrations were so exciting to execute, and I’m really happy with the final product.

The orange color scheme in this design is for the flavor of the juice which is mango passionfruit, and the rest of the design is informed by this choice. The cap for the bottle is the secondary color of the logo, so it can both distinguish itself from the rest of the line, while also helping the logo and illustration stand out. In one version of the Totally Organic juice line I made the illustrative logo of the lemon stand out strongly against the light pink of the juice inside the packaging. I did this so the design would pop to the viewer. I created the design the same way as the mango passionfruit version to maintain the brand’s consistency.

For the assignment Totally Organic, we were challenged to design a brand identity for Totally Organic while keeping the distributor Trader Joes in mind. Totally Organic was marketed towards health-conscious consumers, that would be willing to pay more for taste and quality. While including a spot illustration on the front in wanted to keep emphasis on the copy and hand drawn type.

Totally Organic is a line of Iced Teas created for Trader Joe’s. All of the flavors; Oregon Pear, Florida Orange, and Georgia Peach, are inspired by the state each fruit is grown in. The stamp logo is a modern take on vintage crate labels and gives the viewer a sense of home for their state.

Totally Organic is a Trader Joe’s based organic product line. This straightforward type design is consistent throughout this brand allowing the colors to differentiate the juices. The simple type treatment catches the eyes of customers but also acts as a functional way of displaying important information.

This was an attempt to create fun and appetizing packaging by presenting fruit combinations in an unexpected and playful manner. The style of illustration was inspired by the visual qualities of both screen printing and airbrush techniques.

For this project, we had to create an organic juice for Trader Joe’s. I wanted to keep to Trader Joe’s bright, fun, and unorthodox style on their packaging. I kept to bright colors and bold immagry. I also wanted to keep in mind that this could cater to all age groups, even children. I wanted the juice to be able to jump off the shelf.
