Sarah McConnell
My art seeks to create a world for myself to escape to. The works that I create all come from a desire for a safe and loving place full of whimsy, joy and peace. I am inspired by nature, animals, color, queer culture, fantasy, adolescence, emotions, dreams, feelings of nostalgia and the people in my life. The fantasy and sci-fi stories that I grew up with have shaped my art and encourage me to produce work that ignites the same wonder those mediums made me feel. My art is not only a response to my environments, but a window into the inner world that exists within my head and heart, as well as the deeper, subconscious feelings that I process through my creations. I hope that through my art I can make those who view it feel connected with their inner child and a part of my imaginative world.
