This self portrait is a self-reflection in memory of my mother. It brings to mind fond memories. 2020 was a difficult time and her blessing and her presence in a form of painting gives me support and strength. I found memorable objects of my deceased mother in a keepsake trunk that I had forgotten. To create this project I made a collage of these items with which I had emotional attachments in a 3d form to preserve her memory. Inspiration puppets are something I recently started making on canvas and Mike Kelley's found object work inspired me. The work is an Abstract 3-D piece created for the midterm for Intro to Fiber for non BFA majors. Material used: Acrylic paint, found objects, use of mirrors as self- reflection. Methods used: quilting, felting, paper making, stenciling.
