Lao Tzu once said, “Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom.” Yet, it is very rarely we are given and taught the tools to discover, recognize, and know our true selves. And so for the past few years I have been privileged to explore and utilize art as a tool to reclaim and understand my whole self. The following collection of art is not meant to be presented to you as a portfolio of technical skills, but rather a look into how I have utilized art as a tool to rediscover and reclaim myself and my body. Each piece is a self portrait offering vulnerability and insight to my journey in discovering and recognizing myself; the collection as a whole is just the beginning of using art as a tool to know myself.
