Ismariesha Gomez
I use my art to understand who I was in the past, who I am now, and to grow into my most authentic self. I’m pushing myself to experiment and play with different materials and textures as I follow the process of art-making instead of the end product. Currently, I see myself as an artist creating domestic spaces where people can find comfort and relate to similar experiences and moments in life. Most of my art is centered around Latino and black culture, space, and people. I find it important to see myself represented in my art, I’m using my art to understand and learn about my own culture as an Afro-Latina woman of Dominican descent.
