My artwork is like a mirage. You see what you think may be beautiful, but is actually a lot deeper and more intense than just looks. It encompasses the pain I have ever felt , but also allows for growth and healing. It’s not made for the world to see, but for me to grow. I use materials that feel right for me in the moment of creating, which has allowed me to try a variety of mediums. I tend to lean towards painting, since the fluidity of the medium allows me to freely express my emotions in ways I never thought possible. Creating for me, is focused mainly on the process, not the end product.

Art Therapy ‘21
My name is Jillian Cantz, I am a senior Art Therapy major at Temple University. Before deciding to pursue Art Therapy, I was a biology major on the pre-med track. It wasn’t until sophomore year that I decided to pursue something that I always loved and had a curiosity for. Art has always been a method to calm myself, and I hope for that to continue. When I am not making art, I am normally hanging out and exploring the city with my friends, or relaxing with my cat.
