Marissa Olalde
Growing up as the youngest in my family, I was surrounded by family members that were creative and have a knack for art. Because of them, art was instilled in me an early age. Today, I continue to make art as I did when I was younger and have found inspiration from the people around me. Looking back on my artwork, I like to look at it as a reflection of myself and the people and objects that have inspired me throughout the years. I have discovered that I like to experiment with different materials and mediums. I like to let my creativity flow in many different forms. Because I like to create with a continuously growing pallet, I have also discovered that I like to use found objects and materials in my work. The materials I find, such as materials for fiber works, I collect from different people and places and then add them together to create somewhat of a community of materials. I hope that one day my art can be an inspiration for those that might not have had the same type of support that I did growing up.
