Donavyn Reece McBall

My work is a physical embodiment of my mind. Meaning it is chaotic, vibrant, reminiscent, vulgar, and humorous. As of now, creation for me is a means of making me smile. The artistic formula I have been following for the past year has been a mix of nostalgia and what makes me laugh. Abandoning all formalities and conceptual traditions, and creating whatever offers me warmth has been invaluable to my personal healing. Accepting and validating my flaws has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. However, being able to reclaim art as my own personalized outlet has provided me with autonomy over a small part of my situation. My work will evolve as I do, but the core will always revolve around my search for the Sunshine.

My name is Donavyn Reece McBall, and I love the color yellow. I enjoy painting things that don't exist and taking photos of people who aren't looking. I appreciate my creative mind and its ability to see beauty, humor, and irony in all things. It is my passion to capture people at their purest and to freeze moments that are the most precious to me. I attribute the talent in my hands to my mother and grandmother and I strive everyday to show them that I am listening. Art is my way of responding to what the world gave me.
